Hi everyone hope your all kool? Only recently started trying to produce just bought fruity loops there last week. Was just wondering if anybody can help me out? I no alot of people will laugh but how exactly do you get a tune to drop? As in change from verse to chorus etc & get the whole big build up and then the big crash not neccesserly a crash but for people to actually expect the change from verse to chorus chorus to verse & on?? Because ive laid out a verse pattern & chorus pattern but theres no feel to it at all.. Sorry if this is a stupid question & confused alot of you but i really really need help & im just hoping somebody could please explain how to do this if they understand what i mean. Thanks everybody in advance. Platnum

Well usually the chorus is the busiest part of the song as in having the most instruments going. A way you can make the transition sound more exciting is by taking out some of the instruments on say the last bar of the verse so it leads back into the chorus. make sure you dont have too much going on in the verse or it wont give the vocals a chance to come out. I only been making beats for about 2 months now so i dont know if this will help at all

Well...

tension, climax and relief -- one of the most essential patterns in music (and art in general).

There are various ways to build up tension and resolve it: mainly through harmonics (hard), through loudness (easy), through rhythm (moderate) or a combination of all three. As for how to implement these effects concretely, the easiest way to learn should be to listen to how your favourite musicians do it and then copy them. The harder but in return more substantiated way should be to read some books on or do some courses in music composition.
