"I believe that the decline of record sales in this country...is the lack of awesome music...people are just not taking chances, thats why everything to me is really similar..."

I actually made a thread once similar to this ^ ,once rappers realize the core reason they don't sell hundreds of thousands of records anymore,I believe it is then that they will realize they HAVE to take an entirely new direction with their music.

And I thought his comment on 'Noisy music' was directed at The Runners lol, which is kinda true to a certain extent;they make insanely hot and loud drum patterns, but the majority of their melodies aren't as catchy and inspiring as their drums(something I realized when 'I'm so hood' was playing at a party),so they come off as being melodic sounding, but noisy in a way...

This why I say that the producers and writers of pop music need to get the praise, and not the artist, whom the producers are really just using as another instrument.

I got new found respect for Scot Storch.

He clearly establishes the difference "between" a beatmaker and producer. Definitely drops some simple tips to advance your skills!

i definitly have a lot of respect for scott you can always tell his music mainly because it make sense i know he made alot of neyo's beats were produce by him unlike these other producers "ay bay bay" he really put time and not just close his eyes what ever he press on will be on the record. another reason that i believe that the music is not selling anymore is because most record labels just want money they throwing anything at these listeners they have no choice to take it but timberland dre scott kanye these guys own the industry

peace

this was great to see him speak on music... i would love to see him make a beat from start to finish.

the only thing i didn't agree on was his talk about kicks and bass... while i 100% agree with what he's talking about... if you listen to most of Scott's Hits... the drums are an after thought, many times stock off the keyboard, in some songs you barely hear the drums. i just dont think that he spends that much time "fixing" his drums.

nice interview tho

Nice interview. Sounded like the girl asking the questions knew as much as he did haha honestly I mean most of this you coulda got reading up on music theory, but it's nice to hear an interview with a beatmaker where it's not about the money he's making or the clubs he's going to or the contraversy surrounding him but rather, THE MUSIC. Cause that's what it's about in the end, isn't it? I find with his beats he's too methodical sometimes with the theory & ish, I find he's hit & miss. I can't disrespect him, I mean... Still D.R.E... need I say more?
