Today im going to be reviewing the Rokit KRK10s its the 10" Sub that just flows so beutifully with any krk setup you might own.

To start with i recorded a video but its really going to be hard to distinguish how nice this sub really sounds because i have a very cheap video camera with a bad mic and and even with alot of lamps on its hard to see much, but its posted below.

My first impression of this sub was WOW this thing is amazing, it knocked pictures off of most the walls before i realized how much adjustment i could get out of it. It has a -30 + 6db gain, a high frequency filter, xlr 1/4 and rca inputs and outputs. The book says its only 150 watts RMS not sure how that translates literally but it rocks when you want it to.

Its a very nice compliment to my krk 5's which without proper adjustment dont have much low end and this thing fixed that right up for me. I dont think i would recommend this unless you have an eq to go along with your other speakers cause your going to want some extra adjustment to make the sound match your room.

Otherwise i found this to be a very good investment for my studio and the clean look i have now with a complete KRK setup, axiom keyboard and my laptop, well imo its just beautiful to look at sometimes and very nice to listen to and make music with.

This bad boy is selling for 300 bucks so its still not a cheap investment but definately not a bad one especially if you dont own any kind of sub.

man, that is sik, the only thing is its pretty expensive, i was looking into the rp5s though, ive heard good things about it, but im starting to get good mixes out of my speakers now, i got £20 speakers and a sub that came with it, this was before i started music production but they are pretty good for listening to music.

Im thinking of getting this sub this summer, also to go along with my rp5s

What kind of EQ is that? and can you explain in more detail why you think its not good to have the sub without some kind of EQ?

The eq is a 35 dollar Behringer eq, i think you should have an eq because every room is different and youll want to adjust your rp5's to compliment the sub better and fit the acoustics of the room, this sub really puts out some bass, so youll need to crank up the mids on your rp5's not sure if youll need to do the same on the rp8's though.

Knocking pictures off the walls is a little too much for my small room.

now im not sure if i want to buy this sub

i get what ur sayin about the room and acoustics, but all u should worry about is what u hear at the listening position... in a home studio the rooms are always messed up, u have to accept that or get busy with foam and padding and stuff

anyways, couldn't u turn the volume of the rp5s up (a little or all the way up) and the sub's volume down (a little or all the way down)? they all have volume knobs on the back and im sure they are made so u can use em together once you adjust their levels... if u do this, is it still not enough and thats why you have the EQ?

also using an EQ seems kinda sketchy, how can u kno if ur mixes are right when ur adjusting the EQ on ur output? ull never know what the "right" EQ setting is... its like the point of monitors is to have a flat (and accurate) sound and then ur throwing EQ on the entire output, seems counter-intuitive

or maybe im not understanding? lemme kno if u have any thoughts on this brolance

Ok yes you can adjust the volume controls and even the krk 5's have a hf control, but here is how i use the eq, because my studio is in a 20ft x 40ft room, i have alot of reverberation and i dont have acoustic padding other than the Auralex pads my sub and krk 5's are sitting on, so i take a professional cd of music that i think fits my style and i eq it so that it sounds good. The professional cd gives me a starting point and i know the mastering engineer did his job right so i just have to match the sound. Once my eq is set then i dont adjust it when i go to make my beat i just try to make it sound as good as i can with that eq setting.

I hope that makes sense and if someone thinks im screwing up the process ill sure be open to advice, i havent had but one mix complaint since i got my new setup and that was right when i got the sub, all is good now i think.

ok so i guess ur process allows u to get good mixes, makes sense... plus when u check the mix elsewhere it should confirm it

as for me, im still on the fence about gettin a sub, but yeah thanks for clearnin all that up
