Word to life son, overdoing ish is HELLA wack. I was mixing dude's and his VOX were all bad due to over compression.
Just Click Play and Comment. Seriously. Then tell someone about him. Then Download the song, put'em On Ur iPod, then tell more people about him.

Also if u over compress, there is a chance u can get a pumping effect. tho this might be what ur looking for.

I think as long as the track is -3db to 0db then its fine. Any less or more wont compare to some modern tracks.
