| You took it way too personal nick, yea in the first paragraph I addressed you and then in the second paragraph I continued and said: "And I find it very disrespectful that y'all chime in". YOU ALL meaning that I'm addressing everyone and not just you nick or you at all. Well reading and comprehending is a SKILL too. And I really don't know where you got that from that I'd assume you'd read 1 book, I never said anything like that, I never mentioned anything with you about books, I was talking about myself. When I say Lil Wayne threads then I don't mean Lil Wayne in specifc I mean all gossip threads about the rap scene how much of a gangsta an artist is and who gay is etc. | | | |

| It's all cool tho, I appreciate that you read it as you said and you also agreed with me I appreciate that too, just was wondering why you'd relate everything to you when I said "y'all" and was speaking in general, I could made it clearer maybe, I think that quoting made it look like it that I'd address you, yea I do that often, quote someone, talk to him and then continue in speaking general. | | | |

| I didnt address you specifically either NickDj but i thought it was futile to argue it in this thread, people are way too sensitive these days, so i quit trying to defend myself, but i meant you no disrespect.

narcississtic? u may have butchered it but u know it, i got no idea.
but i think theres also a mood you have to be in. i had a melody, which i didnt really like, saved it anyway. yday was jus goin through old projects and that jus sounded gd to me so i went with it. u have to be in a mindset, its no gd if ur distracted or have something else on your mind, or jus generally sad/tired/annoyed/frustrated you have to feel your music for it to be gd if u dont feel it, who will | | AIM - The2ndMan2

| Alright back on topic folks.
Mad nice post rocsta, I've watched all the Mysto and Pizzi stuff before but I've never analyzed the concepts that you outlined. I am a 16 year old cat so I tell you advice like yours come in mad handy. For example, my earlier compositions were mad nice till I started ADDING, therefore I sort of invested myself heavily in the role of and audio engineer trying to make a crappy beat a hot beat in by mixing etc. I'm gonna go back and watch the Mysto an Pizzi stuff.
And what books would you recommend on music theory and composition? | | Mediocrity is humanity worst enemy!

| I'm glad I could achieve something,
for books I definitely recommend "Idiot's Guide To Music Theory", this one NFX recommends too, it's about basic notes, scales, chords. And then once you have that finished I'd continue with "Idiot's Guide To Music Compostion", this teaches you how to use the chords to make progressions and how to use the notes/scales to make melodies, the last chapter is about songwriting which I find very important too, because at the end of the day it's about making songs and not beats, as a producer you should at least know about songwriting, you don't necessarily need to be a full time songwriter tho but you should know what's up. About the business side of music I'd recommend "All You Need To Know About The Music Business". And if you need some inspiration for life and music in general, I say "life" because it's about achieving happieness and success in personal life and your carrer, then I recommend that book by Russell Simmons "Do You" he tells you stories how and thru which ways people he knows got successful and how to do the same what for an attitude to have when you get into the business what to look out for, how to get your MIND RIGHT etc. Particullary this book showed me that I still have to grow as a person a lot, it opened my eyes to many things in life general. | | | |

| I'd just like to say, as an alternative, theres also Dummies guide to Musical Theory, and Music compostion
and if were going offtopic slightly, id recommend you pick up a Michael Eric Dyson book as it makes for very interesting reading
