So im gonna assume that u all heard the song from jay-z. wat do u guys think about auto-tune.

do u think he's bashin on all autotune users except t-pain or is he included.

i personally think that the only person who should use A-T is t-pain. rappers should not sing, although i do like 808's and heartbreaks from kanye. but i miss the rapper kanye. and personally, lil wanye need 2 quit singing and get back to rap. he uses it so much that i cant even tell when he is not usin it. auto-tune needs 2 go away 4 like 5 yrs so we can forget it

I think any artist can use auto tune if he wants to, I myself don't enjoy it, but someone out there may and the song will be a hit. If everybody stopped liking songs with auto tune then maybe it would go away.

It's one of the worst things that happened to music, perido. It is killing hip hop, like sold outs like wayne or kanye or soulja boy, IMO. sorry if this offends you but all hip hop heads will tell you the same thing...Destroy autotune and never let it come back again.

i think hip hop is slowly splitting up into 2 genres, and it seems like the kind i like is never on the radio anymore... theres 3 "hip-hop and r&b" stations in my area but i never hear the type of hip-hop songs that i like.... i have nothing against auto-tune in general, or the artists that use it... if that's what people wanna hear then keep making it i guess.... personally im not really a fan of it, i think it sounds dumb... i like some songs with auto-tune, but overall i think it hurts creativity because all these songs start sounding the same

Conceptually it is good but what's annoying is the fact people use it for the sound it creates instead of just for tuning.

call me a "backpacker" but theres a huge line between hip hop and auto tune.

To me thats just POP music. Lil wayne is a POP artist.

Alchemist said it best...(paraphrased)....If you stay doing what you do, stay true to yourself and not chase the money or the hit single trends you will be better off in the long wrong. The circle of music will make its way around and eventually you'll be on top of the circle again when it comes around. If you keep chasing the top you'll always be behind.

when i first heard tracks wit auto-tune i thought it was cool and new, but people got carried away wit and went overboard. every song has auto-tune now, and most people don't even use it right. so it's jus one bad on top of another

I've seen some live footage where he didn't use Auto-tune and i'm not sure if i would consider this "singing"...he's nothing more than a average singer. Bottom line, his voice is crap without Auto-Tune.

I would take my comment back if T-Pain would ever decide to make a record without Auto-Tune...but I already know that this will never happen cuz he's afraid of losing fans which leads to less money for T-Pain.

I'm not hating on him, i like his stuff. He knows something about catchy lyrics and most of the beats he raps to are dope. But everybody knows that he would lose a lot of fans without Auto-Tune.

The AutoTune most of you guys are talking about is often referred to as the TPain effect and rightfully so, but the way AutoTune was designed was not for that effect. I heard once that AutoTune is used on every vocal in every studio, but you usually dont know it because its used properly to get the vocal perfect, not to tweak it out of reality.

one, t-pain has tracks with him singin with out auto-tune, hes not a great singer but he can manage, and if he loses fans, remeber, i don't kno if ya'll heard him rap but the dude is sick, listen 2 karoke from t-pain and say he's not.

two, auto-tune was originally made to correct pitch errors when singing, so while recording if the singer is off key, auto-tune edits the pitch in real time. when t-pain uses it he configuers it so that the editing is really strict. the correction levels is all the way up so any off key note tricks the program and it tries 2 find the correct pitch. if u ever use it you will notice that the t-pain effect is not a preset, u gotta configure it yourself.

Look everyone already knows what autotune was originally made for. No one's denying it's usefulness. But D.O.A. isn't against autotune. It's against these pop artists who make the T-Pain affect autotune can produce so uniform in hip-hop. It's against the artists who put use it because they have the notion in their head of "oh well T-Pain used it and he's rich, so if I use it, I'll get rich, too" completely disregarding lyrical substance and originality.
