yeah I saw that on futureproducers... it's not the first time he says that...
tsk...

Shawty redd made a similar statement, still he coproduced D.Rich (the guy who made Who dat)
D;Rich makes his beats by clicking the hell out of fruity like many others (myself included)...

Long life to midi editing by the mouseclick ! long life to FLStudio !

Dj Quik is retarded btw somehow... He replied once to some youtube comments where he was hated on that he would kinda kill the dude or so...

he is funny...

what you gotta remember is that when you get people sayin funk FL, there not really saying funk FL, there saying funk EVERYONE being a beat maker, and funk people like soulja boy and funk people picking up FL and calling themselves the hottest beat maker alive 2weeks later
its not FL that people hate, its the association with hip-hop that FL has

What's interesting to me about this entire thing is.... I at one time thought FL was nothing but a "toy" sequencing Program for bathtub musicians. (you know... beating the side of the tub while they kick rhymes someone else wrote). It took me a long time (years actually) to finally break down and give FL a shot. I believe mt Sonar program expired and I was in the need of a sequencing program... FL 5 was on my pc and I started there.

For Quick to say something like this is surprising but one thing you must understand is the HE claims to originate WEST COAST HIP HOP. I'm sure he believes in some of that old school theory of doing things when there were very few known and available sequencing programs in the hood. Personally I like Quick for some of his "stances" on things... He is very outspoken, and courageous. I enjoy his music allot and feel like he is one of the better rappers with a long history and track record that speaks for itself. But sense he made this statement about FL and is so much against its capability perhaps someone should create something "superrrrrr genius" with some of his hits/tracks and show him where he's mistaken...

Yeah, still I think his statement is retarded...

if even Primo tried reason and stuff.. I guess he is the only one making bold statements like that... And people don't even put him in the top 5 old school producers of all time...

His ego is clouding his judgement...

But I see your point,

well, may I correct what I said... ? the comment about him not being in most top 5 producers is dumb of mine... because he has made some awesome records in the past... but for real... It might have been his personality who induced that because from what I've seen lately, he seems to be quite..hum "talkative" ...

What's really funny is if you look on the back of DJ Quik's latest album (BlaQKout), it mentions that all Protools 7 and 8 sequencing was done by DJ Quik. Now, i don't know if that really counts seeing as how Protools is mostly used for recording, but it's software alright. I'm big fan, DJ Quik is actually my all time favorite rapper/producer, but I'm so disappointed that he would have such a closed mind towards new technology. This debate needs to end, it's not the tools that make the music...

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE MOTIVE BEHIND HIS STATEMENT STEMS FROM... I LIKE EVERYONE ELSE CAN GUESS, BUT EVEN AN EDUCATED GUESS IS STILL "SPECULATION". tOO BAD HE DID NOT ELABORATE ON HIS STANCE... BUT ONE THING WE DID SEE IN THE VIDEO; HE WAS SITTING IN FRONT OF A MONITOR AND IT "APPEARED" THAT HE WAS "EDITING" A TRACK (MANIPULATING TO SAY THE LEAST)... SO PERHAPS HE IS NOT ANTI-SOFTWARE BUT MORE "PROFESSIONAL, FOUND IN THE STUDIOS MAJOR LABELS/RECORD COMPANIES ENDORSE" SOFTWARE.

DO MAJOR RECORD COMPANIES AND LABELS ENDORSE FRUITY LOOPS? DO THEY HAVE FL 8 ON THE RACK? MAYBE THAT IS WHERE HE IS COMING FROM??? STILL, SPECULATION. BUT I HAVE TO GIVE IT TO MY BRUTHA QUICK.. HE IS GANGSTA! I SAW HIM AT THE LOCAL PROBATION OFFICE A FEW MONTHS BACK; COOL AS ish... WALKED IN, WENT STRAIGHT TO THE BACK, NO ONE F'D WITH HIM AND HE WAS OUT! LOL... I ALSO SAW HIM AT A AWARDS SHOW ON THE RED CARPET ALMOST FIGHTING "PO PO" BECAUSE ONE OF HIS HOMIES WAS BEING HARASSED. THEY GAFFLED HIM UP AND WAS REMOVING HIM (QUICK) FROM THE AREA TO THE CHANTS OF THE CROWD...

"GO QUICK, GO QUICK, GO QUICK!"

HE TALKS THE TALK BUT WALKS THE WALK... AND FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, WHEN YOU ARE UNAFRAID OF THE POSSIBILITIES AND USED TO BEING "F'D WITH" AFTER A WHILE YOU...

JUST
DON'T
GIVE
A
"F"

Just take it as what it is, cats are talking out of their arses. If you cannot even recall the name of the software you are abou to diss, chances are that you are not familiar enough with it to have a say anyways

Everybody uses software in one way or another these days. Last time I saw a Primo vid, he was laying cuts using Serato. After your done with your hardware based beat, where is it going for mixing? Right into the box, I don't see many people with bigass consoles and a DAT anymore.

Ahah yeah, for real you met him ? Nice [edit] hmmh probation offices, like you both were on probation ?? oh lol maybe not so nice, my bad !

Was about to write a long message but in fact, I don't give a F about Quik either... May he continues to make hot stuff, may I have the chance to make some hot stuff on fruity as well :p
Who truly cares... (but the part abt being gangsta, if he is not a clever gangsta like Pac' was, well you know what, I don't give a ish abt that either.. and I think you are clever enough to understand that)

He has his opinion and I understand finally... for him the processed sound coming out of a mpc being in 12 Bit or so might sound better even mixed afterwards in Protools...
He could have said the same thing abt something made in cubase, sonar or samplitude... but fruity is an easy target...

Well he is kinda dissing 9th, Premo, Pete Rock... who all kinda incorporated software in their workflow...

I get your point crystal clear,

Why dont Major Use fruity ? Well the programming is sometimes made on fruity by some producer, but at the studio, since Protools is the industry standard (at least in the US) for mixing, better have something compatible... And it's also a question of "hype"

That's without saying that fruity sucks at recording...
Everything is maximized toward the end product which is the record and Protools excels at it...
If you ask me, Reason should be absent as well since it doesnt record and doesnt accept vsts
And anyway, tracks are prolly bounced as wav. files...

@Haze : nobody really cares, but when somebody attacks you on something you like, you will naturally defend it right ? And we can defend a lil more here than on futureproducer, it won't turn into drama like there lol ...
