Nixon, not Kennedy you are correct sir. My bad... I do that with affirmative action all the time too, just doesn't seem like a Republican thing to do...

I decided to start buying stock after the Nov 2008 elections and since then I've been up +152.21% overall. I'd say Obama is doing just fine so far.

B.A.S.E., I totally feel you on the lithium point, that's why I'm not sure electric is the way to go, but again your right problematic is an understatement. And my thesis is completely dependant upon finding a cost effective way to desalinate water, that's no simple trick either. I think it will take a "man on the moon" type speech by someone in the presidency who has the stones to go for it. Some seriously NASA type ish. I think now that the price of oil has gone down a bit I don't think anyone cares anymore. Hybrids will probably be the new SUV in a minute and people won't even bother to look at the mpg as long as their is a little tag that says "hybrid" on it. Have you seen the Cadillac Escalade hybrid commercial? I almost had milk comming out my nose I laughed so hard! Next they're gonna put out a hybrid hummer, I'm just waiting for it...

GP, really? I thought this Econ stuff was completely boring to anybody but 2nd Man. By the way, good look on that side compression deal, I looked at that one earlier but after having a chance to "digest" it for a week or so it made a lot more sense this time around. Thanks.

I love GP, AGC, HS, BASE and Joq for this topic, been schooled. Start my degree a week from today now
anyone else not surprised that NFX made money out of this?

Something offtopic that I pulled out, about the educateion system. How you said weve all learnt at such a rate on this site, but how comes no-one can learn maths like that. I think you have to consider we all wanted to learn about making beats, and few (myself exlcuded) actually want to learn Maths. But the point there has to be a better schooling system. imo its just teachers, think back to what subjects you enjoyed learning, and what interested you (and probably is related to your job now) my bet is somewhere along the line you had a teacher or 2 in that area that 1. you liked 2. was a very good teacher. I know thats certainly true for me.

I dont think basing your system off gold is that ridiculously, ultimately you have to base monetary value off something, i.e. $1 has to have a value, it could be 5 potatos or $1000 could be a peice of land. But it has to have a value really. Why not base it off a material that isnt rare, but that everyone (I mean everyone, find me one person without anything gold belonging to them) wants? But then, it is just a shiny thing

2nd Man, I am so happy for you... honestly your gonna do great. Your desire to learn is off the charts plus your pretty darn smart, keep your GPA up that's pretty much my only advice... If I hadn't slacked off the last couple of terms I'd be in grad school right now.

I think your right about the education thing, you gotta wanna learn but I think there is something about the way this site works that encorages that in a way... I'm not sure how to put it. There's a wierd combination of competition and cooperation that is a little different than a good teacher. I mean I agree with the good teacher part but...

Like when I played sports in high school (as awful as I was) there was something that made me want to go to practice, get better that was based on... I don't want to call it peer pressure, I don't know what it is but Warbeats has got it. It's very similar to the feeling of competing with people for a spot on the team but when it comes down to it helping everybody get better cause it's fun and helps you get better. I've been to websites where they have answers to homework probs from math books, I've been to sites where they had videos similar to here, I've been to sites where there are very elaborate answers to just about any question you might have about math, but I've never been to a site that encourages learning like this site does.

Seriously, if there had been a site like this for math I would be getting my doctorate in mathematics education right now. I mean if we could have the long conversations about econ and I learned stuff from it everytime we get into it I solidify my knowledge about econ it seems like there must be a way to make learning fun in this same way with other subjects.

I could be wrong but it seems like in America we often think if something is not expensive it must not be any good, but I look at the progress I've made since I've been here... it's more than what I would have thought possible. Imagine a site like this with math or physics or whatever. If there was one tenth of the people on that site what kind of brainiacs would we have in the world in a very short time.

One of the thing that makes this site so great is the fact that you have people from all over the world. I feel like there is this absorption of learning styles that goes on here that accelerates the whole thing it's really kind of amazing, maybee it's just me.

Back to the gold thing for a minute. Gold is cool, but it's just an agreement that we will trade it to make it easier than bartering. It beats taking a bunch of CD's to the market to get a cow for sure. I makes it so we don't have to bicker for prices all the time so it's convienent.

Some would say that the fiat system encourages run away Government "spending" on military and welfare programs. I don't know, if people didn't want a military or Government programs they wouldn't elect the people they do. If Americans really wanted a gold standard they would have elected Ron Paul. If Americans didn't want healthcare they wouldn't have elected Obama. If people didn't want a big military they wouldn't have elected Bush for eight years.

I mean a lot of these types of problems that were talking about get into Pareto efficiency and game theory (free rider problem, stuff like that) and all that stuff like Moral Hazard which is what I think is really at the base of GP's arugument (and rightly so) but when you have three or four people on this site of 80,000 people who are interested in talking about this type of stuff...

Hey Fisha,

could you take a look at this for me? I'm stumped, notes and chords and ish I'm o.k., sound design gives me a headache, I usually just use the presets in Kore.

Yeh I think I got this using a free dsk vst and a bit of filtering. the thing is though even if you don't get that osund exactly right it's not much of a problem because no one will notice unless it's played right next to the other one.

Thanks man, not real great at the filtering thing cause I usually use guitar pedals, I haven't gotten to the point where I can pick that kind of stuff out for synth sounds. Thanks again.
