Get External HD, an no the programs you installed will not *all* work on your new comp.. but just make a folder on your external hard disk containing all the installers for the programs u need to us. I doo it too and it works perfectly...

You can take out the harddrive from your computer and installl it in the new one. That way you won't loose anything. Desktop harddrives a re larger (physical size) then laptop ones and in laptops you usually don't have room for an exra drive. Also take note that Harddrives are sensiteve to shock aka bumping and grinding. So if you plan to take with you on a trio, package it carefully.

What I would do is what TI already suggested. Get a large portable HDD and move all your files to that one.

Your programs wont work, because most of them use registry entries to function. You will need to re-install everythign on your new computer.

Your only option right now is to copy the Registry keys of the programs you want to transfer over, re-download the installers from the Manufacturers, and hope for the best.

Simply inserting the HD from your old computer to the new one won't work, unless it has a OS installed on it, so you can boot from it. Just copying the files won't work.
