Sorry about the double post but quite good news for me. Well it happenned a couple of days ago now but I havn't posted it yet. As some people would know I write quite a lot of music, mostly techno. But I also write some more "classical" stuff for other purposes. So anyway I enetered it in the composing section of the eistedford. Anyway there were 4 other entrants, three of which are at my school (which is a one of the best music schools in the country) doing year 12 music extention (I'm only in year 10 and don't even learn an instrument anymore). One is a brilliant composer, one is going to be in profesional musicals and the other is a music genius who plays more instruments then you could point a drumstick at.

Anyways I didn't think I stood a chance of anything, I had just written a nice minimalist peice for a sting ensamble. Anyways I turned up to the presentation. Well we all got called up and the judge (a well respected Australian pianist) had a bit of a talk through all our peices and then announced the winners. I CAME SECOND. Unfortunately I couldn't beat the brilliant composer but I still topped particularly the music genius dude (who had written a 20 minute piano concerto). Anyways back at school I've been getting a few death stares from his way, but it's been lots of fun and I finally have some propper distinction and acheivemne to my composing.

Haha it's funny because he's given up death staring me and now somewhere in his mind he has it that I'm an actual musician . Like today in band he started to talking to me about how people kept missing the Gb and they were a semiquaver too fast rushing the melody and all this stuff so I was just nodding along and pretending that I wasn't the worst offender out of everone (the reason I write music is because I'm ish at playing it) anyway it's all very fun.

I just moved to another town to study, and at the university they split the students up in smaller groups that are lead by older students so you can get to know your fellow students, get shown around the campus and around town etc. But basically we just drink and party. And last night we went to this bar and I instantly recognized that a J Dilla track was playing in that bar! I was like OMFG!! I wanted to tell anyone but I couldnt because the other students there would probably judge me because I like hip hop, that has happen before, at this party once me and this guy talked about music and I said I liked hip hop and he just left! wtf?!

I actually get the same problems as all you guys with techno and, my other thing, punk rock. If you say "Well I listen to a lot of Blink 182 and Fatboy Slim" people just give you ish. It's really annoying to because a lot of it is really good music (well Blink isn't actaully great musically but it is just sick)

Unfortunately I don't know how to emmbed youtube clips on here but this is a song by one of my favourite bands, Zebrahead. They are sought of punk/hip hop, good stuff. Now normally it's the rapping that lets the song down but in this particular one I really like the rapping hip hop side (unfortunately the singing is crap) but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any other musicians with this sound.

^ i like this idea lmao. There's plenty of people in my area that like hip-hop. Buuut, they all into the ish thats on the radio...which i hate with almost a passion. A couple good tunes sneak through every now and then but for the best part i just sit quietly while they say 'this is a real banga man!' LOL. one day i will enlighten all my friends with the ways of old school hip-hop

But i'll talk about my weekend. It was pretty dam good guys! This has been prolly the best summer of my life so far lol. Basically every weekend me and my old friends from school (im at college now so only see them on the weekend) and we just drink, talk about old times, have a laugh and act stupid lool. Good times. But yea, my best friend had a free house friday night, asked just a couple of us if we wanted to crash there for the night. i was like most def. got there, and there was him, his gf and this girl i'd only jsut met like an hour before lol. Then there was some ish goin down... his house got ish thrown at it while we were there. So some peeps were called, some other peeps got taught not to throw ish at my mates house lol then we went back and partied with the girls again and i ended up sleeping with this girl i'd only just met in my mates bed lol, he was a bit annoyed... good times. but i only got like 30 mins sleep so yesterday i was funked haha

but its all good now. And i got a driving lesson tomorrow whoop!!!
