Whas good Wb members i wanted to share sumething wid everybody
i whas Watching To teh news 2 days ago and therre whas a dude that did suicide cuz he got
Ear damage Due Listening to loud music for Yearz and he realy couldnt live wid the noises in he,s head
And did Suicide to Find Rest RIP  i dident know him tho but he whas only 25 and this truely shocked me
and i also listne to LOUD music wid bassy tracks especially West coast old school stuff and now im actually scared to make music again now im taking a break for a couple off dayz to let my Ears rest and when i make music again it will be on a low volume level not very loud but between cuz i also notice sumpeep sounds in my left ear wich is strange cuz my right ear went thru more things den my right ear by da way i also had lil tube,s in my ear when i whas small so dat might be 1 off teh causes i think so all i gotta say is

Do you make music on a loud volume ??? Do you make music like for 4 or 5 hours or what so ever
den what i would do is step out teh room take a 15 minute break in teh living room watch sum tv or get a sandwich  etc and get back to work im only saying this cuz im concerned about this i NEVER go to concerts tho or neither listen to an Mp3 or stuff last time i went to a concert and listened to a mp3 whas llike 2 maybe 3 yearz ago so yeah i just felt like sharing this cuz i amrealy concerned about this and MUSIC is my lifeso im scared at the moment to make music and do what i said and you'll be making music for a long time
i dont understand hwo thesse TOP producers arent deff yet sumetimes i think producers hire engineers to get demmixing their stuff LOLbut nwayz Thx for reading this i hope i realy made you sumething clear

Im always careful with the volume and if you go to a concert dont stand as close to the stage as possible the sound sucks there anyway

who says the top producers mix at HIGH volumes? thats just what we see in videos. they don't always use those BIG humongous speakers when mixing. of course there are times when you want to hear the music pumping out the speakers just cause you're vibing to it...but to listen to it consistently and hourly increments? i doubt they do that.

but bottom line is....you have to HEAR music to make it...so take care of the number one tools you use every day to make music...your ears first...then your hands...

I'm surprised you just found out about this. In another topic I also advised lettin' your ears being washed out 3 times a year. The secret of mixing a track longer than you actually 'could' is mixing at a very low level.. By default I create and mix beats at a very low level. On my Ipod I put a volume limiter that doesn't go above 50% of my max. volume capacitiy and even that is pretty 'loud' for me lol XD...

I used to do that too, but I just cant anymore, because I listen to hip-hop more and more. and hip-hop to me has to be loud, or i don't feel it. I just can't listen to J Dilla or Little Brother Quietly. It's gotta bang, and in order to bang it's gotta be loud. Sometimes I overdo it and I don't listen to music at all for a few days, but I think my ears have laready taken a beating! Every now and then I hear a frequency on my left ear. It has two notes: high and low, and it goes between the two at random. Oh well, if I go deaf at least it won't have been in vain - lots of great music will have been the cause!

you know that ol saying..

"....ignorance is bliss...."

lol....

its like...when i found out what the symptoms of a heart attack were....
and all of a sudden i had a pain in my chest...
then a pain in my left arm....
then i started taking deep breaths because i thought my breath was short...

come to find out i got acid reflux....

sometimes your mind will play tricks on you...
and sometimes it will GIVE you what you focus on...
just take care of your ears....but that doesn't mean you can't use them for what they are MEANT for...to hear!!!

cars are MEANT to be DRIVEN...but the more you drive them, the more maintenance they require...

just keep that in mind people...

This thread reminds me of those people i see wearing those ipod headphones that always have the volume so loud that you can hear them from ten feet away in a quiet classroom.

Yeah, I know alot of suckers who listen to music only at high volumes, and even more, it's hard music (rock, metal, etc) which IMO is even more damaging... but what can I say? They'll pay off later.

I like keeping my volumes in the mid - not too low, NOT too loud.
I hate the stupid suckers who crank up the volume in ishty systems and you only hear the sub woofer and some random strident noises.
When I listen to music, I prefer to UNDERSTAND what I'm listening to.

lol yea... loud ass noises are NO GOOD for your ears. The damage is literally irreversible, you canot repair the tiny follicles inside your ear that transfer the vibrations to your brain. If any one of you think you have ear damage, go get a hearing test. There might not be much you can do, unless you have slight damage, then you have to rest your ears for a bit.

Yea, im one of those people who can't listen to music very loud. My ipod hardly ever goes over 50% cause its just too loud for me lmao. Makes my eyes blink an ish when a loud hit comes in XD

But yea, don't listen to music too loud, there's really no need...especially if your working on a beat and mixing...you should mix at a reasonable level so you don't over compensate the bass, and under conpensate the hats/crashes

I don't think you should be scared though in all honesty. Your ears were made to listen to things all day everyday...they're pretty tough you know...just don't go crazy with em, thats all
