LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Pop icon Michael Jackson died Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest, the entertainment website TMZ.com reported.

The website reported that Jackson, 50, suffered a heart attack just after 12:00 pm (1900 GMT) local time and paramedics were unable to revive him.

Jackson's manager Tohme E. Tohme was not immediately available for comment when contacted by AFP. Officials at UCLA Medical Center where Jackson was treated also could not be reached for comment.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Devin Gales would not confirm Jackson's identity but said paramedics went to an address corresponding to the star's home at 12:21 pm (1921 GMT) and the person was taken to UCLA Medical Center.

yea alot of people dont care because of his lifestyle or what he was accused of doing but all that aside he was over accomplished producer writer musician singer dancer the list goes on all the unfortunate kids and people he helped over the years all the charities he gave his hard earned money to for people to say ish liike " i dont care" is really shallow and self-centered what major contributes have you given to world ... none so comments like that dont even need to be posted because i really dont care for ish like that .....r.i.p M.J

It's not because of his fame or money that he was praised, it's because of his raw talent, skill, and character. He was a really loving and overall a nice person. Over his career, he was constantly bombarded by biased and stupid comments, but that never stopped him.

It is true. We are sorry for him. But yes, sadly, its true.

One of the first records i learned to sing (says my mom) was "i want you back" by the Jackson 5. My mom used to put a mark on the record label and i knew that, that was the side to put on my little phonograph. Michael Jackson has been in my life since I was born. He has inspired me to sing, dance, and make great music. I had never met the man or ever saw him in concert but still I felt as though I knew him. He has been in my favorite artist list since... forever.

I composed a compilation for Michael about 3 weeks ago. Today it is #5 on the Composition charts here at Dub B. I am so thankful for Michael Jackson and his pioneering. He will always be missed.. and will forever be loved! So, to show my respects to Michael Jackson I am placing the compilation track here... Hopefully those who loved Michael as I have/do will appreciate the work, time, and effort that not just I put into it,... but for all that made my compilation of MJ possible... which was really all of his talent and love for music.
