Tascam US144 USB 2.0 Audio/MIDI Interface

Well I got the tascam us-144 last month(January) and I've had little problems with it.The Tascam US-144 is a computer audio/midi USB interface. The US-144 comes in perfect with my setup.I have one midi controller which is hooked through USB and an ASR-10 which I have hooked up through MIDI into my Tascam which works perfectly for me.The US-144 also has Line Ins for a mic(which supplies phantom power) + guitar in and MIDI in's and outs.

When I first got it I had a some problems with it and driver support for my operating system(vista) but was helped shorty after. So that didn't last too long.If you have Vista and has this interface then check the tascam website for vista drivers.

One bug I notice is in FLStudio(Only happens in FL) whenever I open a project or even a plugin serious latency problems start up.That problem is most likely the driver version and will probably be solved within the next driver or firmware version.

Other than those problems I'm satisfied with the US-144 it does all I need it to do and is very helpful in my setup.Another lovely thing about it is it comes with a copy of Cubase LE.

I give it aWarbeats rating of 8/10

One other thing that is not so good is there is no on/off switch so it is always on even when the computer is off.

well i mean i start off about like 8ms then i increase it to 10ms if needed and sometimes i increase it to 13ms (not to much) but u get used to the latency. Its hard wen i cum back from playin my NORMAL keyboard and hit up my midi one its sorta wierd but about 30mins its kool again.

I was thinking about getting this but i researched it and a lot of people on the internet were complaining about bad drivers, and one of my boys tried one out and had driver issues.

take the drivers out, spank them and make them good again :) ive owned mine a couple years and love it, no driver problems at all for me. I have the 122, its the same card, just doesnt have all the bells and whistles. I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Works great in Vista too, there are new drivers and firmware to download on their site too.

I have this device too which I use with my laptop. I have serioius latency issues both in Windows XP and Vista. I have the current drivers and firmware upgrade. I personally would not recommend this device unless a driver comes out that deals with these issues. As a work around, I have used ASIO4ALL with it and that seems to eliminate the problem. Also, any latency setting below 512 with the native drive wil suck big time.

When using a condenser mic, I just have the audio outs go into my audio ins on my M-Audio Delta 1010LT so it serves it purpose as a Mic Pre-Amp.  As I stated, unless a driver update deals with the latency issues, I would not buy this device.

Im going to give a thumbs down on this device now too, I loved mine when I first got it, but its been about 3 years now and it just died. Im very easy on my stuff so I wasnt expecting it to die so soon.
