| HIP-HOP: BEYOND BEATS AND RHYMES is a riveting documentary that examines representations of gender roles in hip-hop and rap music through the lens of filmmaker Byron Hurt, a former college quarterback turned activist. Conceived as a “loving critique” from a self-proclaimed “hip-hop head,” Hurt examines issues of masculinity, sexism, violence and homophobia in today’s hip-hop culture.

| I watched this whole program and the one thing that got me was some women complaining about being objectified, the only thing i can say about that is, why put yourself in an objectifiing postion. It was up to those women in the videos to present themselves like that, knowing ahead of time what the vid was about. And i ask why are the other women mad about that, it was their choices not theirs, I think the women feeling objectified are a little bit jealous about their looks, it seems to me those women need to gain a little bit of self assurance. so in my final words, some women are objectified and some are not. some put themselves in objectifing situations and some dont, the ones that dont put themselves in those situations are the ones mad about it---lol---i think most woman now adays are very insecure about the fact that sex sells and also the fact that ,,,,some have it and some dont, either you sell or you dont......great vid tho--major props to the person that posted it...ya boi LowKey . Oh yeah and i agree %100 on all the gay, homo, or queer stuff they where sayin most hip hop talks about--in my opinion its all wrong---call me a homophob or a biggot but i am fine with being what i am, atleast i can say "I will pro create" | | | |

| PEOPLE MUST UNDERSTAND! Its not the black man or a rapper that makes this kind of settings. Its the white man in the suit wanting hes money and not giving a funk about any others that has to be blamed.
Not veird that these rapers cant answer for their own lyrics, when they most likely are told what to say, cuz they dont give a funk about consecvences or ish. the want MONEY. and the people follow them like dead sheep.
sad but true.. | | | |

| I liked the the words that were used like desensitized, and perpetual. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love (I John 4:18). Lifestyles change just like HipHop will change, and is changing. | | | World Wide Warbeats got talent. | |
