This method rarely works perfectly but when it does work, oh man does it do a good job. The video shows a nearly perfect example, so don't be discouraged if you don't get great results every time.

i bet its also a way to remove tha vocals with nearly tha same theory as well...

Now that was a pretty cool video. Works way better than the M/S technique because you don't have to worry about whether or not the vocals are stereo or mono! But you do have to make sure the instrumental is not a remixed or lp version:-)

I use adobe Audition in the vid. There is a freeware editor called Audacity that should allow you to also invert a file.

I've that so many times and haven't got it to work once. I had problems getting them to line up. I use a method slightly different that that when sampling. Since drums and bass is usually panned in the center when i want to cut a kick or the bass out of a sample I'll invert one side out a sample. Like the left or the right side. It doesn't usually cut all of it out put makes it quiet enough to cover up with a bassline.

man that is crazy ive had audition for over a year now n i never knew u could do that. i tried to use the centre channel extractor and that never works so i gave up. thx a million that is hectic
