I once did mastering for a mixtape and I hated it. It is not an easy job. Mastering is basically putting the final touches on a series of songs to make all sound relatively equal in loudness and quality.

I developed my own quick and dirty method with reasonably good results and I share the techniques and my thought in the following video.

You've just helped me step my mastering game up a lil' bit.  The quality of my future projects should be good.

yeah good tut. just one thing i noticed be careful when u convert ur wav to mp3. i noticed that usually when u convert to mp3 from the wav the amplitude increases a little bit. so if ur wav was right on or just below 0 dB, the mp3 ends out a little bit over.
to fix this first i master the wav to just under 0 and save it. then i drop the volume on it a little bit (maybe to about -0.3 or 4) and then i save an mp3 copy of it from that - but i don't save the wav file again. the mp3 should be jst under or at 0.

that interpolation that you were talking about at the very beginning is something i didn't know about. when i use Sytrus, it spikes my usage and comes out crackly and skips. (not when i save it for play back, but while i'm mixing, its very annoying) i can probably remedy that now that i know. cool cooool...

Why dont u put a soft clipper in the master so u dont have to cut down the amplitude below the 0 db in cool edit?. When i do it, the whole wave is limited to watever fixed point i choose and theres no clipping or parts that go past the 0 meter.
