Recording the Vocoder output is simple, just put on the same effect channel as the vocoder an Edison effect, then select the NOW button near the Record button, and then just press record... and there you go... You can record anything in Edison...

I'm having trouble with the vocoder or maybe just my equipment. I followed every single step in the video but when i play it live i can still hear my voice through the speakers even though the mod is panned left and the carrier panned right. The vocoder L & R are all the way down and the wet fader is all the way up.

i have done exactly the same thing taught in the video. somehow, my voice still cant mix up with the effects. I still can hear my own original voice and the Rave Lead sound. it doesnt mix up both together like what in the video..

Is it actually possible to achieve the Zapp sound with either FL vocoder or MDA's talkbox?

I know the physical differences between a talkbox and a vocoder but surely they both create the same effect right?

If not, what's the cheapest/easiest way to achieve the Roger Troutman sound in FL (eBay appears to be all out of golden-throat talkboxes and Yamaha DX100s).

Great tutorial, NFX! I ran downstairs to the studio to try this and it worked out immediately! I tried different synthesizers as carriers, but your "Rave Lead" seems to fit perfectly... can I download that somewhere? I mean I tried practically everything from Sytrus, but nothing comes close to your result.

When I go to the modulation channel and try to add an input microphone, the dropbox is empty.  How do i get FL to recognize that i have a mic installed??  Windows recognizes it...

1st up, thx to NFX for this and all the other tutorials. Now onto my query (I hope some1 can help):

I've come up with a good idea for a project involving the FL vocoder. However, I am having a problem getting my vocals into FL (version 5.1). I own a Rode podcaster (USB mic) and a logitech dynamic headset (USB mic/headphones). The problem is, when I go to my FL mixer and scroll through the input options, I can't find my USB device/s listed (the things which are listed are the "mix pre/post eq," "line in," "spdif" etc). My usb device/s arelisted when I hit F10 and go through audio settings. However, these audio settings apply only to output and not input.

So, to cut a long story short: I want to record my vocals in realtime in FL via one of my USB mics and yet I cannot find the options to make this possible. I do own a normal dynamic mic but I don't own a mic pre-amp so the gain is reeeally low and it's not really a viable option within FL.

I own cooledit pro 2 and have no trouble recording via my USB mics in that application so why can't I do this in FL 5?

Please help?

Alrighty.
Here
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=488332&content=songinfo&songID=6788382
is my first attempt at a song based around the vocoder (done this afternoon).

Please help on how to improve it (e.g. please recommend/send me a better carrier sound).
