So tell me what you think

if you are planning on distributing your music for profit and it samples sounds from copyrighted songs then you have to work out the legality of that issue.  but if you are just using those samples for fun there should be no worries as far as i know, legally speaking.  and as far as the morality of sampling....hip hop music is highly sample based.  nuff said sample away homie, just do it well.

and it depends on what you're sampling...

sampling separate drum kicks, snares, and things of that nature...are different than sampling actual melodies and lyrics of songs.

i mean, most of the samples in fl are drum samples....which are used in a lot of copywritten songs...

the melodies and words are mainly what you can get sued for...

oh u mean from the downloads...well the thing is with that..if the person who makes the "remake" uses samples from the actual song, or from the actual "sampled" song that was used to make the one he's remaking, then u can't use that...but if they used original instruments, yeah u can do that...but most of the remakes (especially ones that are remakes of tracks that sampled songs) are just re samples of the original one...so u can't use those samples....now there are ways of flipping samples and taking certain parts out so they aren't noticeable..but that's a fine line...

I think by "sample," he means instrument samples.  If I'm right, there's nothing wrong with using those instruments in your own composition.

Depends on what you sample and how you use it. If you sample a seperate kick, snare , tom, guitar pluck or whatever how would anyone know that it was a sample or where it was sampled from. Unless it was something that really stands out. I have a whole folder about 200 Megabytes big full of seperate sounds that I cut out of other producers beats. It's not like I'm copying a melody or something.
I understand that the envy is part of the game but you and I we are not the same

How do you get the kicks.  Do you mean chop the kicks of the songs beacause i have just got Adobe Audition 2.0 and if you know how to use it can reply and you can tell me and how to chop the kick.,snares n hi hats. I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance
