So I know very very little reggae beyond the typical white guy listening to bob marley sometimes stuff, but I'm making a reggae beat.  I'm using a guitar chord sample that I added wahwah to, and I've got the option of going with either a major or minor chord.  I typically go with minor by default in rap beats 'cause that's just what's always sounded like rap to me...Is there a tendency to major or minor in reggae?

I would say just like Hip-Hop, you would go with the feel rather than a rule of thumb. If it sounds right just go with it. Reggae is a music of feeling, not so technical that the sound is dictated by rules. Just my 2 cents.

it depends on the other melodies u goin to put like brass nd trumpet

or watever . technique is very important nd the feeling is too but  if there is disonance

thats mean they must be minors,  if u use the major ,  THE NOTE B(4,5,6,7) is major.

u can use it to fix some wrong tunes in ur chord.

It depends what kind of reggae ....dancehall(Sean Paul) is more like hip hop ....and Reggae Music(Bob marley) is similar to R and B but has a more active/interesting bass line ...dont know if that helps ....
