Well anyways, on a side note, hip hop will never sell the amounts of MJ, Johnny Cash, The Beattles (who grew up 10 mins away from me ''very proud'' lol. And are also THE best selling artists of all time), U2 and so on and so on. So u decided what the most ''popular'' music is

^ Can "popular" music nowadays be defined by the amount of sales they have? I don't think so.. We are in the era of downloading..

Well how would you define the most popular music other than by how much it sells, the more records its sells = the more popular it is. And yes we are in the era of downloading, but whos to say the people ive listed havent been downloaded more than Hip Hop artists (which i would place money on that they no doubt have)

yeah im with shane on this one. you have no clue how many people download beatles records.. including me lol, i downloaded their entire 4 gig discography yesterday. i think that nowadays the best way to measure the popularity would be to look at how good the concerts are selling. cause thats when everybody starts pulling out their wallet. you cant download a concert now can you .

PS: I do own a beatles album.

You can still use sales as a measure of popularity. All sales have decreased, not just some genres. So if 'pop' music is selling more than rock and hip-hop, its more popular, theres also more likely to be more people downloading it.
And without a doubt, more pop is being downloaded than any other genre.

DO YOU AGREE WIT IT OR NOT???

DO I agree with it or not?
Sorry , I don´t subscribe to any and all of the above.
This is how revolutions and wars start. This is how Adolf Hitler, Stalin and Mao Tse Tung came to power.

By the way, take sometime to read a little about musical history and world history in music. You might just find out that
even though Hip-hop is a nice musical style and is listened by many people, it is NOT the most popular genre of its type.
Please read about it before you shout out about it.

Hip Hop isnt, Pop Hop is lol

Totally agree. Hiphop fans know about Dilla, mainstream peeps do not. Thats the diff'rence. ^^ I almost solely listen to 'real' hiphop / underground hiphop, but I also like DMX x)

hip hop is not the most popular genre, though i wish it was.

It is actually the lowest selling genre of music.  M

And just the other day my nigga chris killed himself\ I pray to god that i never feel the way he felt\ Where do we go when theres no help\ He figured heaven so he went left\ Ya'll know that aint right.\ plus he was high as a plane on that same night.\ ish i probably been on that same flight. \ish I probably had that same fight \I just kept swinging \Twelve rounds come and bells ringing\ [i run to trouble, trouble] introduced to the game when i was just a child\ Mama know the drug dealers straight quit her job\ He took his life and along with him I died \and she died \we died \Then came my daughter to my bedside\ told me, "Daddy, don't cry, I'm alive" \I look her in the eyes and see me with no sins\ But this is how the note ends......

Haha I doubt that. Can't be less then adult contermpary spoken word. Now that's a freaking low selling genre.

I think 'real' hip hop is more appealing to me when its only being circulated in such a small group.
If everyone out there was listening to it would lose its magic imo.

What about RAP n hip hop....Its both. death...
It came all out off soul n funk music
back then it had a soul,...it had a meaning
When you heard rap you heard pain n suffering when you heard hip hop it whas all against politics n maybe breakdancing i guess

Deez days its all about money, clothes, cars n jewelery n sorry im saying this but i got tired off it since 2007 maybe 6
dats when i decided to get stuck in old school personally....i stillproduce all kinda genre,s to atract more people but i prefer old school above anything

Well This whas my meaning....and it wasen't ment personally to anyone But if you call soulja boy lil wayne n drake sum real rap n hip hop or rnb
then you even dont have a funking clue what yourtalking about, you even dont have anysence of music and its value but what so ever

All im doing is defending: 1st n foremost Dj battlecat, J dilla, Pete rock, Dj quik, Cold 187um to name a few

It is ONE of the most known genre but the most people know Hiphop as a violent music style and not as a Culture ..
Also the "begining" hiphop-dudes think they're real if they listen to 50 cent , Soulja boy , Lil Wayne , etc , etc .. <= That's all commercial hiphop-killing bullshi- ..
I just stick up with OLDSCHOOL Hiphop , because that's real Hiphop ; couple examples : Nas , EPMD , Pac , NWA , LL Cool J , Jurassic 5 , Wutang , etc ..

Glad to Read that What about butch cassidy n nate dogg ????
Put them on your Track and its a Hit...
