Don;t know if this is where i post it at but I recently got a internship with Def Jam =D and I wanted to see if anyone knew about how long would I have to wait before I could even think about an actual position there? How does this even work this is my first internship period so I don't even know how internships work

i'm in the promotions dept. i'm right by some A&R's though too .... the person that got me the internship told me if i work hard by the end of the year i can be an A&R but I don't even know how I can start leaning in that direction or whatnot for them to give me the job.

Well from what i have heard, they will give you some tedious work to do, and you must keep smiling and all that... Well do the work, work hard as he said and I guess you will be rewarded, anyway, i think you don't need my words..
Just know when not to speak, be friendly with everyone, and don't say mean things about anyone.. you dunno who might overhear...
But enjoy yourself as well...
Just be proactive for work, in fact, they will look at how you work, if you ask for more tasks( for example try to help even if you are not asked) and be a cool guy to be around without being a fool...

That's the few tips I got from the internet about these kind of internships...

Anyway, do you mind if I hit you up on p.m ??? (or if you got a myspace page, add me www.myspace.com/blackbaserecords)

I just have a few questions concerning the recruiting process (not necessarily for defjam though, i have been looking at a finance internship at sony bmg and emi, but I could use some more insider tips of someone who made it already

Do me a favour, sit next to one of the A&Rs, and unnoticably slip my demo and contact info into his pocket alright?

Yeah just basically don't ask when you will be an A&R lol.

Do the work you get and just be cool, sounds like you got a really dope opportunity here man.

I'm sure you'll prob end up listening to all the ishty demos that def jam gets in the mail, and then picking which ones to present to the A&R.

From what I've heard A&R's are shady people so i guess do what your told but also look out for yourself and your music goals.
Check me out on MYSPACE

thanks everyone for the input. i have been doing all the work asked even if its get someone something to eat lol but yeah. I'm trying to be more social because i know that its a big key in this business. Hopefully I get a position by the end of this year. Def Jam wouldn't be my first choice but hey its better than being nowhere . lol

Hi I'm from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I would like to know how you got your internship at Def Jam? They're my favorite and I would like to apply next year. Hope you can help me, thanks!
