yo, wat is your view on sampling and remixing,

i've been producing 4 about 5 years know and i get very excited wen i find a dope sample 2 flip, or make a beat using a melody from an old song and using different instruments.

but theres some people who don't like either and say its not bein creative, so wat do ya'll think about the two

i dont really have a hard on opinion about sampling, i can say that those who do it well can turn sampling into beautiful music and on the other hand, its not original work. i personally love doing remixs, because it challenges your musical knowledge by having you find the key of the song, as well as create an original sound for the vocals, that sounds good and equally sounds as good as the original, not to mention while doing remixes you have thee potential to learn alot about chord progressions and the key signatures of music...... so thats my opinion of the two

I like the fact that you can flip samples or remix a song to give a totally different feel to it. Thinking that sampling or remixing is no original work is ridiculous. Hip Hop started with sampling. Oldschool Hip Hop had nothing to do with melodic synths or stuff like that.

But everyone has a different on that. Sure, you can be proud of yourself if you create a beat with a catchy and nice melody and everything self composed. But on the other hand, it's great to experiment with samples and flip sounds to get a new fresh beat out of it. I have so much respect for producers like premo or 9th wonder who can flip like every song and make someone totally new and unique out of it...and in the majority of cases it sounds way better than the original.

I prefer remixing over sampling but that's only because I CANNOT sample on a high level. I 'can' sample but I'm not that great at it. So I'm hiding in the dark with mah sample skills untill I feel I'm ready to test it with the world.. but then again I really want to get deeply into synthesis also.. So many to choose XD...
