10 May 2009 11:38 AMThe comeback of Eminem
Surprise surprise...the hole album is uploaded on youtube.

I heard most of the tracks and i have to say that i'm not disappointed at all.
I think Dre did a great job on those beats...some tracks have "classic" potential for sure.

If you listen to songs like "beautiful" you clearly see the effort and the power behind the tracks.

Most of the tracks on relapse are masterpieces and that's sick if you consider that nowadays CD's have 1-2 really good songs and like 12 bad ones...

Eminem + Dre = best team ever?

I listened to it too and yea I see some classic tracks. I really like beautiful and underground. I bet this album is just the warm up though, I think relapse 2 is gonna set it off!!

the only thing weird to me is that strange accent in some tracks...like he did in "ass like that" on some relapse songs.

I mean, the concept works but i don't know...i would rather like to hear his real voice on every track...that accent sounds kinda silly sometimes.

yeah encore was definiately one of his weakest, his earlier stuff is the ish that sicks man
slim shady lp was an absolute lyrical gem, and the marshall mathers lp was a step further
he already had the lyrikill ish down but on the mathers lp is when he got better at actual songwriting
time magazine even voted it as one of the 100 must have albums of all time

the beats were good, but they were too similar to earlier beats from Dre so I felt that some of the beats were just taken from earlier songs and added new lyrics. Of course this doesnt apply to every song, there are a few cool new ones but in general the beats on the album was a disappiontment to me. I just hate that feeling like: "hmm havent I heard this song before?"

Hm. I'm not sure about the "Em+Dre=Best Team Ever". For starters, we don't have anther combo to compare it to, since he hasn't really done a Dre-less album. I reckon if he dropped his post-Eminem Show persona, and got back his Marshal Mathers/Slim Shady LP style, he could team up with Alchemist and DJ Premier to make on of the best hip hop albums of all time! I reckon he could really rip that boom-bap kind of sound.
And Ess Jay, I don't think he's the only MC who's maintained respect throughout his whole career. For one, All plugs from De La Soul have maintained respect, through a much longer career than Em. CL Smooth too, Q-Tip, Black Thought, Chali 2na, etc. There are so many who haven't sold out and maintained their level in terms of ability and subject matter. Plus, I'd say that Em's rep declined progressively after Eminem Show with songs like 'Drips'. Mind you, I haven't hears his new album, so I won't judge yet.

Relapse definitely isn't Em's best album (MMLP is), but it's wayyyy better than a lot of people are making it out to be. 3 a.m., medicine ball, stay wide awake, must be the ganja, old time's sake, beautiful, and ESPECIALLY underground are more lyrical than 95% of music released in awhile. The production, while uninspired at times, is still top notch and classic dre stuff.

i would go as far to say the that em may infact be the greatest rapper dead or alive...and i know this will raise much debate...but i think history and record sales will vindicate me...relapse is fire...ems wordplay is crazy on this one...first CD I bought in years.

Dre and Em are definitely a dynamic duo. I feel like the relapse album could have used more basslines. I would really like to see Em do a whole album on a serious tip, like that track "Beautiful". He's so dope when he doesn't use the whiny voice. Dre should have stuck to G-Funk beats..

To be honest I was REALLY annoyed by the accent he uses on many of the tracks. Other than that the album is pretty good lyrically and musically. My favourite track is Beautiful.
I don't think Em + Dre is the best combo "ever" though, they are good and make alot of hits (and money) but I personally like the early Premo + Nas sound more.
