Was there a particular song, or a particular moment that made you go "wow, this music is incredible"? I know it sounds cheesy, but be honest. I gotta tell the truth, I used to hate rap. I annoyed the hell out of me - thought it was repetitive, monotonous and stupid. Then a friend of mine played "Changes" by 2Pac while I was in his room, and I was listening to the lyrics. I'd never heard anything like it, and I thought it was one of the most incredible songs I'd ever heard. The beat was incredible too - very emotional. Never looked back since then. Hip Hop ftw

"I fell back to earth where electric sheep feed on the astro-turf". Task Force is the ish. Fisha, I respect you for persisting. I'm not that patient with music if it doesn't instatly attract me, so faair play to you. Listen to the track that Max posted though. In particular the 1st and 4th verses. The two in between pale in comparison. I'll be surprised if you've ever heard anything like it.

Well Hip-hop is the only music which I haven't really been able to find what attracts so many people to it, every other style I've been able to understand (well except for current pop music which is just so repulsive that it hurts me to listen to it)
 

I think one of the reasons I havn't been able to enjoy hip hop is because it's over produced. There isn't a wrong note and that really annoys me.

god yeah, i was just starting to get into graffiti when i found a copy of that and it funking blew my mind

I guess what got me into Hip-Hop was all the hip-hop songs in skateboard movies, one of the songs whitch made a real impression on me was "Full Clip" by Gang Starr from Josh Kalis' part in "the DC movie" my friend had it on VHS lol good times

is there like one particular skate movie that has Full Clip in it?

cause i know tons of skaters who listen to that song xD

yeah as I said, Josh Kalis' part in "the DC movie"  here it is:

Growing up I remember my uncle used to brag that he knew Run DMC personaly (which my fiancee let me know wasn't that rare back then), but I remember being totally awestruck like he was a celebrity. Everything about them was cool, but it probably didn't set in until I was around 8 and found out Red Alert used to host a radio show at like 9 or 10 on saturdays and from then on every saturday night I was glued to the radio until it went a bit more mainstream  (back in those days "Hot 97" used to play dance like lisa lisa cult jam if anybody remembers when that was in).

Long story short, these are the main ones that sealed the deal. Ironically almost 9 years of Video Music Box later I found myself up every Thursday night trying to catch Bobbito and stretch Armstrong and Mr Magic and Mr Cee.

It's almost hilarious to think there was a time when a rapper looked awkward in front of a camera (not counting Nas interviews).
