i was just wondering how many octaves you all have on your midi keyboards. i plan i gettting one and am choosing between an E-MU controler with two octaves and the same one of 4 octaves. my menatlity on this if i get 4 octave then i can go both up or down in octaves from my root octave if i start in the right one, and if i get a 2 octave one i can only go up one or down an octave. i have more versatility on the 4 but is compact better?

If you have the space, go for the 4 octave

depends on ur space and what u wanna do with it, if u wanna actually play keys u definately want the 4, but for just playing basslines or samples a 2 octave would work, but i would definately go for the 4 unless u are extremely tight on space or want to travel alot, better to have too many keys than not enough
