I just want to know if anyone uses drum loops instead of programming your drums (ie playing them out)?

I saw Just Blaze on youtube.com use a drum loop and he made a dope as beat. I know he uses a mpc 4000 so he might use chopped up drum loops but they are still drum loops. So I figure is the man who made "U Dont Know" uses drums loops what wrong with it....

just curious...

Ive done it. Sometimes I like to layer a loop over my own beat too.

just like anything else though, if you sample a drum loop and leave it the way it is you would still need to clear it. I like to chop up loops and program them myself

I use drum loops sometimes. What Just does and a lotta 'Eastcoast' MPC producers seem to do a lot is put the loop in, arrange it the way they want and then on top of the loop's snare put their own snare in, it gives a 'dirty feel' and they do that with the kicks too. I'm using a Big L drumloop right now.

i use sampled drums but i also chop then and re-arrange them to the pattern that i want. i like using sampled drums cause alot of the drums that i get wen i buy or dl kits jus dont sound right to me.
