| Was there a particular song, or a particular moment that made you go "wow, this music is incredible"? I know it sounds cheesy, but be honest. I gotta tell the truth, I used to hate rap. I annoyed the hell out of me - thought it was repetitive, monotonous and stupid. Then a friend of mine played "Changes" by 2Pac while I was in his room, and I was listening to the lyrics. I'd never heard anything like it, and I thought it was one of the most incredible songs I'd ever heard. The beat was incredible too - very emotional. Never looked back since then. Hip Hop ftw your story? | | | |

| haha, nice choice dude. Yeah, that track is the reason for my name. It's one of the dopest tracks I've ever heard, Jehst kills the beat. "I fell back to earth where electric sheep feed on the astro-turf". Task Force is the ish. Fisha, I respect you for persisting. I'm not that patient with music if it doesn't instatly attract me, so faair play to you. Listen to the track that Max posted though. In particular the 1st and 4th verses. The two in between pale in comparison. I'll be surprised if you've ever heard anything like it. | | | |

Well Hip-hop is the only music which I haven't really been able to find what attracts so many people to it, every other style I've been able to understand (well except for current pop music which is just so repulsive that it hurts me to listen to it)
I think one of the reasons I havn't been able to enjoy hip hop is because it's over produced. There isn't a wrong note and that really annoys me.

| Honestly i dont even remember the start of it.. hip hop has been there for as long as i can remember (cause of my older brother who used to be a major hip hop head at the time).. but i remember listening to my brothers nas albums alot
and this one time when Changes just got out i spent an entire day sitting next to the radio waiting for then to play it so i could record it onto a cassette tape lol xD (it was around '96 so i was like 5 years old back then) and my brother totally freaked out when i told him i had it on cassette, promised me all kinds of toys if i would give him the casette, but i didnt give it to him lol.. damn those were the days | | | **Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst.**

| Probably the first time when I bought hip-hop and liked hip-hop as a genre type of thing was either Kanyes Late Registration or Lupes Food and Liquor. Before then it was singles and compilation CDs.
word SP, how far we've come in 10 years from that to being able to search and download a highquality mp3 of a song in 30seconds, put it on your mp3 player in 10seconds and be able to walk out the door with it
and for my English friends who all know the Peter Kay sketch, taping the Top40 countdown on Sunday afternoons! Time well spent | | AIM - The2ndMan2

| ^ yeah, kind of a shame when you tink about it. its a good thing to get music that easily and all.. but it makes it less special. waiting in front of the record store for an album to come out or downloading a version that leaked like 2 months before its even supposed to be in stores. i think i'd rather go back to waiting in front of the store. | | | **Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst.** | |

| I think i was 10 or 11 and this song called Many Men by 50 Cent got me into hip hop. People underestimate 50 Cent, he's still keepin some old school hip hop flare in his tracks too. He got shot 9 times (pretty sure) saw a documentary on him. He had a bullet lodged into his tongue, that's why he has a distinct voice and he still kept rappin even though people were after him. I don't know if this is gonna embed alright so heres the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK5lsPp4DYE | | | From my mind to your speakers, it'll blow both of yours.
