18 Oct 2009 11:10 AMMaking a label
Would any one like to start a project with me? Making a Label type organization, What we would do first is try to gain some publicity via advertising. I already own a website and have hosting to go with it www.dceemusic.com. Then we would try to collect some potentially good artists and producers from this website or others then we would start trying to lay something down. If any body is ambitious enough to come and have a go at this I would be grateful. You may be reading this and laughing at the idea but every motherfunker has to start somewhere. So personally I think it's worth a try putting spare time into this making beats attracting attention. Please contact me via Email at davecoully@gmail.com Thanks for reading people keep this in mind and remember every cunt stars from nothing!

Hey Dave. While your idea may sound great have you put some thought in the fact that what you offer(website) is something anyone can make for themselve.
So why should a person join your project?
Dont get me wrong though. I love the idea of people having a similiar goal, join forces and make ish happen.
But most of the time it doesnt work like that. It's common for people to think "If i join this project, what's in it for me? What will i gain from it?".
What type of music are you gonna focus on by the way?
Good luck with finding people to join u.

Thanks for the feedback guys. My plan would be to find genuine people with real ambition to join me. I am not earning a penny yet and when people join me it would be a joint venture. So basically there will be no top man in this we will all be equal so when we start earning IF we star earning the profits to be shared I am not doing this mainly for money even though it could well start a buzz and start earning. I am doing this because I feel real passion in this idea. I am also struggling to  get a job now and I am living off welfare in the united kingdom so whilst I have nothing to do each day I will be putting effort in to this project. I know people love ideas like this they just dare not to come out of the fear off "It's all for money" it's not like that if people are true to something they can make ish out of sugar. I know people think I'm naive thinking it's just a waste of time and maybe it will be? Every strong root structure grew from a seed!. To answer the genre question Hip hip is the genre I'm looking to work in. I also know any can buy a website but it's not the website what matters it's the people within who could make this big pretty much like "  I got this tip from a friend of a friend ". It's got to be worth a try I'll give any one a crack it this funk Color, sex , race and religion I don't care all I care is that you have strong ambition like my views I have stated above! So feel free to reply to this topic or email me at dceemusic@gmail.com or davidcoull@dceemusic.com. Thanks Dave!

mate you have the right mind on this.i have started a label called southsideFunk records and wanted to get a website going and all that.im in the u.k myself,i dj and produce and run a club night.NOT bragging but i have made lots of contacts dj's/producers and my good mates play for passion fm so i have advertising sorted.i was given helpful info from big name producers that have labels in the music i make-house.you need to start by 1) use facebook to start up a group page for your label. 2) get some artists involved and get some bootlegs or remixes out for your fans for free.

the download websites like what we use beatport,dj download, stompy, track it down etc want to know so much stuff.they want samples, who masters your tracks etc. i can go on and on.(pm me if you want more info)

remember a label is a company so you will have to register as a cc and pay tax(if you intend to do it properly)

its hard work and lotsa promotion....but its worth it if thats what you love.I LOVE IT and believe me it pays off with some hard graph

Also I would like to state there is no money going in to this at the moment just my personal bills for hosting and domain so about £40 altogether. We can worry about company registration later on for now it will be run as a project and if it goes well we can get it legit. When people join I don't expect people to give me money for the project if they are not willing money is hard to come by these days so i don't expect it if you don't want to but if you would like to help out we could make a forum or something the list goes on but for now we will just get some Rappers, Singers , Songwriters, Producers and start spreading there ish around the web and hosting them from our site. We will all work together and just go full out 100% for your benefit making sure your work gets heard in the Big ears! If we all work together all skills will come together and we will start noticing joint passion a no limitation world no rules for what we can do just have belief that we can go into this and then start viewing that light at the end of the tunnel well I am sure you get my drift by now. There isn't much to lose buy spreading your music about I am sure none of yous are earning of it so it's got to be better than just listening to it yourself you never know what talent lies under your skin. I would like to add I am not just looking for music personal to contribute I am looking for people who can help make my website look good maybe getting it looking legit I just need people to help me and join my team so i am asking people please help me put my words into action!

I know I am getting lots of views on this topic so please people if you are viewing come along and help me I need more idea flowing. If you are an artist looking at this My aim is to help you guys by putting your profile and your audio and links to your myspace pages and other pages of that kind. Also I will be trying to promote you by emailing people and asking people to bump your ish. That is why I need people to help me like a friend of a friend ish that is how dceemusic will try and get contacts and simply by sending your demos around to people. When I get members we could all work together and create a Mix tape series and if the first mix tape gets good response we will start selling the second by email. Obviously the artists Producers and other figures will all be getting their royalties. I know you are probably looking at this and thinking he is thinking too far ahead but like I've stated in other reply's it's got to be worth a shot and I have seen lots of people on this site with incredible talent producers and artists, most of whom have raw talent in their blood. I'm not asking artists or producers to pay me for me and others who will help spread your ish Helping get dceemusic from nothing to something will be enough. I will be able to earn a little bit by advertising on my website for example ad sense and others. So please help me out people!

I have hosting and a domain and me and a friend of mine are looking to start a similar project to yours

www.rapresurrection.com

I would be join mine up with yours. We have similar aims, I am a decently well known net-mixer/producer thru datpiff and mainly westcoast rap forums. We share similar ideologies with how it should be set up.

email me at still-i-rise@live.co.uk if you want to directly contact me.
