Ok i decided to do a complete OS change and switch over to the 64bit of XP. It seemed good, i could run the computer faster and use all of my 4 gigs of ram. But when it came to the software side. OMG so much stuff doesnt work. It kinda actually got annoying. Many of your favorite vst's wont work. Some of ur PC games dont want to run. So i went back to 32bit. The 64bit world isnt ready yet. Imo as computers start to get into the 4 gigs and 8gigs of ram. They will need to switch to a 64 OS. But for now 32 is what will be the most compatible. I was kinda upset on the compatibility. But oh-well 32bit is fine.

That's cuz vst and DAW developer are too lazy to build a 64 bit code and new drivers...

There's no point in getting 64 bit if you can't use your fully installed RAM anyways.
And to ppl who consider to change to 64 bit systems. Wait till every Vst-plung, DAW and audio interface driver is up to date...and then go for vista 64 bit.

XP might look better for audio production at the moment...but microsoft will stop supporting XP in 1-2 years...that's just microsoft policy. They will force you to get vista either way. And to be real now...vista is better in the long run. Everyone with some IT knowledge, knows this.

Most ppl just tend to believe everything they read in forums about other dudes bitching on vista cuz they're like: "oh man, i've installed vista today and nothing is working...no games, i don't get any audio, my cracked apps...nothing works!" And ppl how read posts like that, start to generalize everything and be like: "oh no...if his games and cracked app's don't work...this means that my stuff on the pc won't work either...god, vista sucks ass".

But reality looks different...vista might bitch about some apps you want to install...but in many cases you just need to dig a little bit deeper to find the answer. Maybe change some settings manually to get your old products working...that's just the way it goes with vista.

I know windows 7 will be released soon and its supposed to fix all that mess, although Ive not had any problems with my Vista 64, no incompatibilities, all my vsts work etc. Im told you will have to completely wipe out your hard drive and start fresh if upgrading from XP to win 7, but Vista - Win7 you can just do a straight upgrade.

Are you sure you have the right setup and right performance ?

Seriously though, very few programs fail to run in a 64-bit environment nowadays. And with Windows 7 right around the corner, universal compatibility is guaranteed when it launches.

And if I were you I'd get a Ps3 as well for gaming.
