| A little offspring of Lukes tip. Stop being a follower, and start getting your own opinions. Alot of people (even the smart ones) are prone to fall in to the parrot behavior pattern. When asked something they will repeat what someone else told them, (who in turn got told by someone else, who in turn read it on a forum, who in turn...) Another interesting fact about this topic. A few days ago I was browsing the mpc-forums (propably the largest mpc user community on the net). And they had a thread up with almost the same topic name. Now you would think that FL would get slammed there, right? WRONG, almost everybody who answered either used it or didn't see anything wrong with it. The only quesses as to why were the Fruity name and stock sounds, the rest ended up being 2-3 pages worth of praises. So go figure | | | |

| ^ Yeah, that was directed at me... And do you know what? I RESEMBLE THAT REMARK!!!!! (yes, I said resemble and not resent) There is a lot of the time I do something cause it's the "right thing to do" instead of taking my time and "using my ear" I try to use a shortcut and use "forum wisdom" and I end up with a beat that is all funked up and wack. I think I'll post my FLStudio made beat on youtube and say I did it in Protools and my MPC. That way, nobody will know that it's wack. MOO HOO HA HA!!!!! (I'm only half kidding) | | | |

| FLStudio sounds as good as the very best in the world. The factor that influences the end result sound is the human brain. Every kid and his dog can be a musician, and like in American Idol auditions, 99% think they are actually good at it. I will be back. | | | |

| I agree with ^ There are a lot of bad FLStudio so called producers on youtube, who think; hey i want to make a beat! And so they do, without any knowledge of music. I think a lot of those peeps use FL, make crap beats, and people then -partly- blame the program. I tried FLStudio 8 once, didnt really learn the basics or anything, but at a first glance, I dont really like it. It looks crap, tho that shouldnt have to be a problem, but I dont like how it works and all (I have a friend who makes beats with garageband, I tried that at his place, and that works soooo smooth and easy ) I guess that ruined FL for me But, that the program is crap, is bullish, Ive heard some awesome beats on youtube made with FL. | | | |

Reason why people dont "accept" FL as a pro tool is because it lacks the ability to record "live"...yeah, i know u can record live and blah blah blah, but compare setting up the drums to
i record vocals in FL all the time.. | | yep yep

| main thing i think of why there is "hate" on FL is the price...folks don't feel you can only pay 100 sumthin bucks for a program and it sound good...
or better yet...folks don't think you can pay 100 sumthin bucks and your stuff sound better than THEIRS
i remember i went to a beat battle and i went up against this dude..they asked us what all we used to make tracks... dude said he used a Korg Triton and something else...i said i used fl...u could hear the moans in the crowd like "yeah this fl dude bout to get waxed"
well i ended up outting dude and his manager came to me and said he wanted me to come in as a 2nd producer on the team...
come to find out the dude used FL...guess he was a little ashamed to say it but i dont know why...seeing as he and i were pretty much the best producers there...
but i digress...
another reason is cause folks that use other stuff feel like they put in hard work and dedication actually learning music and some folks can just get FL, click some boxes and think they are making good music...thats not always the case.
you have some folks who like the user friendliness of FL over other programs.
people fear what they do not understand.
now i will also say this...there is a difference between "haters" and "critics". if someone has tried FL and stated they dont like it for specific, legit reasons, then hey..they just prefer sumthin else...
but dem "haters"..... dey just mad...got the wrinkly brow for no reason...

| Woo Hoo Everyone. I disagree with the "user friendliness" part, but I love FL and know what it can do. All great things take time. Does anyone remember the song "Jovian" by "XOR" in release 5? It was absolutely INCREDIBLE and I thought showed amazing quality and the diversity of FL. That was way back in version 5 (I think maybe 6), after the term "Fruity" was changed... {Where in God's name did they get that name from?) Apparently the term FRUITY wasn't a bad thing in Europe where it was developed. Quote from Didier Dambrin, creator of FLStudio: "It was, if I trust the history file, in 1998. It didn't start seriously, because at that time there were only 2 interesting (read: fun to use) music apps, Rebirth 338 and the Hammerhead drum machine. I wanted to merge the coolness of both in a drum machine that wouldn't have their main limitation, that is a single row of 'steps' shared between all the drums. The first FruityLoops was named 'FrootyLoops'. The splash screen already featured a fruit, with a worm in it and then I was told that the worm looked like a penis (although it had eyes, go figure), and so the worm was removed!" | | | |

| I think all the reasons given are correct as to why FL got a lot of criticism for a start
But the main reason it gets alot of criticism is because it already had a lot of criticism. Its learnt ignorance really. | | AIM - The2ndMan2

| Hmmm. here's a quote from my lil bro..."All I know is it's the coolest piece of professional software out there. The others are for guys in sweaters driving beamers. This program is for the guys in da hood and everyone else. And it makes beats based on brains... you got brains, it got beats." I know I had quite the learning curve when I first looked at version 5 or 6. | | | |
