| I noticed that most of the beats that are rated on this site are by people that are new (trying to get enough votes in so that they can upload their own tracks) or people that are really just advertising for mixed tapes. I was wondering if people like NFX, TOOINTEGRATED, SABOTAGE, etc. rate beats or has that become tiresome to them now?
And how do I improve on gaining ratings? I have rated allot of beats (like 54) but have only 37 votes. I do leave my linx to have my trax rated but it just seems that no one is really voting back. Is there something else I can do to become a pet bird in someone's eyes so they can drop me some FEED? | | | Dark Vada- The Father of "Twisting" - The Lord of Sampling!! | "You have rated 281 tracks." And i still take my time to rate some new tracks every now and then. I can tell that it depends on how much your comment "helps" for the one who made the beat, to get a constructive comment back from him. Most people don't take the time to go through the hole beat. If i read something like:"I like this beat but something is kinda missing", i can tell that this person didn't even mind to take a little bit of his time, to give some constructive feedback. Even if you're not a pro at this, you can still think of some suggestions on what YOU would add to the beat...if you think something is "missing" for example. Even if the guy, who made the beat, wouldn't add your suggestions cuz maybe it's not his style or he plans to make something different out of the beat. He still sees, that you're trying to help him out. And that's how he gets back to you to give you some constructive feed aswell and not some bs talk like: "oh good ish, i would turn everything up cuz ya know, mixing is bad and ish...make it bang more. holla at me and rate me back!" I hope you get what i mean

| I'll be the first one to confess that I have not rated anything for ages, it's not because I find it tiresome per say. It's just that I find myself being extremely busy and using the little spare time I have on other things than rating beats. Basicly it boils down to time and priorities in life And to be compleatly honest, alot of times it takes longer to find a beat to give feedback to then to actually execute the whole process of doing so. I want to give feedback that actually has something to offer and where the author can understand and make use of it. If the beat is for example suffering from a alot of basic mistakes, I have a hard time giving it good and creative feedback without writing a essay and at the process repeating alot of what is on offer in the tutorials sections already. By no means am I trying to justify my lack of voting, and I understand why you are stating the question. But at the same time I don't feel that it should be a obligation for us to do so either. | | | |

| @AK BEATZ- Yeah I see how that can be annoying. I honestly try to give detailed feedback on everything that I am voting on. Sometimes I have actually gotten down to only a few characters remaining and have to re-write my feedback. I don't mind helping out a fellow musician at all. Actually.. I Kinda like doing it. I feel like Randy Jackson or something. lol! @tooIntegrated- Oh, My bad if I said it was tiresome for you... I meant to ask it as a question. I see that you Mods have allot to deal with and I can respect that it would just be nice to get some "Pro" feedback on some tracks sometimes by someone who not only knows what they're doing but is NOT looking to make themselves top dawg. Thanks though for the suggestions. I will continue to try them all. @Mr Whitepholk- So there are Genre's where you oly see those that are your preference? I did not know that. But I do believe that you rated me once. I actually loved your "love sex and magic" remix. Maybe you can treat me like your pet bird and give me some feed? @Tankster- Hey Tankster.. I'm glad that you do. I'm not certain that I have any votes from you though. I think I have rated 1 or 2 of yours. Great Stuff man! @SPE- Yeah... someone who would rate your track all 1's would have to be a total D1CK! Especially under an anon name. @Sabo- Yes, I know you are really busy with this site. I can totally understand. I honestly wish there were specified "RATERS" who's job was to go to a certain "forum" and dedicated some of their time in Rating others tracks. It would be cool. There could be guidelines such as- Must be the finished product, only 2 votes per uploaded track (meaning once they were given direction then they could be re-voted on that forum by the same RATER one more time); This would not stop the regular rating system but would be like a special system for those with serious ambitions of forward progress with a specific beat. Just a suggestion. Anyway, I thank you all for your candid responses. I truly do appreciate it. | Hmmm...well i would consider myself a veteran now o.0...been around for about a year and i sometimes pick random beats on the feedback list that shows up when i feel like it...other times i'll just upload a new beat then feed those that put feed me back in the votes...but i've rated 71 tracks and have 34.3 karma so about half of my feedback has been pretty useful...so if u really want feed jus pm me a link to ur ttrack n i'll rate it, or rate one of mine and put ur link in there. | | | I <3 You **RnB**

| ^ You been here for a year and only rated 71 tracks??? That's not really all that progressive. I've been here for a few weeks and have 58 rated votes. I think there should be a mandatory number of votes one has to give a month as a member. It just seems that getting rates and comments is really hard here. Very hard! | | | Dark Vada- The Father of "Twisting" - The Lord of Sampling!! "Eve's Seduction"- The Untold Beginning -=Rate My Beat=-

| Darkvader: This is a tutorial and learning site first and foremost. The beatfeedback is new feature and was added as a bonus, it's not the purpose of this sites existens. People come here to watch tutorials, to learn and get some files. Forcing them to listen to music they might not have any interest in or even like (genre wise) would be a disaster. There are ALOT of tracks being uploaded per day, infact we just put a 1 track per day limit in place to cut down the amount of tracks uploaded. And since uploading requires you to give feedback, the amount of feedback given is atleast the double of the amount of tracks uploaded per day.
The standart of the feedback and where it goes is another discussion.

| Darkvader: and if you are having a hard time getting feedback on tracks, RATE MORE PEOPLES TRACKS! its probably common knowledge to most starting out producers that most people are not going to go out their way to hear some random persons music AND advertise it for you to everyone they know... YOU have to: 1. go out and advertise it YOURSELF by (on this site) rating peoples tracks with honest and contructive feedback and then adding your track at the end, and 2. do that CONSTANTLY
thats probably y i have 360 rated tracks haha! and i think ive only been here for about a year.. give or take some change

| You have rated 13 tracks.
Your Karma: 6.2
One of the lowest here, no? Echo what sab said basically, and make of it what you will.
DJ-R the karma is just a rating on how good a feeder you are atm. If you have negative karma your rating wont affect the beats average scores. And in the future there may be plans to reward those with a high karma. It also acts as a refence though, if your beat gets feedback from someone with 148 feedback you know your in good company and you can take notice of their advice. | | AIM - The2ndMan2

| Well, If I could be considered a vet (well I'm probably not) but I tend not to rate a whole lot as 1. I'm not really sure what to look for in hip hop songs and my comments would be based from what I know and like about music, also it's jujst quite time consuming. Though if ever anyone wants me to give them a rate, just pm me and I'll definately do it. | |

| I'm not a Vet, been here less than a year...
The beats on the sidebar come up so you get people around your same rating. I don't go around rating people at random cause there's too many beats and the people in my sidebar have "paid thier dues".
So my Karma is like around 100, if you haven't given enough feed that people marked as useful (and I for one never rate "good beat" all 10s useful, in fact I'll give it a useless) I won't see your beat unless you ask in the forums. If somehow I see your question in the forums and answer it I will amost always listen to your beat if you leave the "forum posts code" that is at the bottom of the Beat Feedback System sidebar. If it's one of those questions you couldv'e just looked up
the answer to in the FL Talk section under Production in the Forums I'll usually try to answer your question but I won't rate the beat. My reasoning is that if you didn't take the time to look around for an answer then your beat is probably... not in a place where I could really help cause skill ain't the problem.
If someone gives me a track to listen to (and tell me what they want to hear in my beat similar to said track like "needs kick like___ by Lil' Young Boi) or specific advice (if they are capable like "put compression on piano") I give it a useful thus allowing them to get to the Vets faster... that's pretty much how I see "the path to the Vets".
I get rated by "the Vets" every once in awhile... I had to work for it... earn it. I always learn a lot.
The Vets (I'm assuming you mean Mods) are always puttin out fires, movin stuff around... Mod stuff. I don't expect them to go find my beat out of the 10,000 that are up there (so far). Let's see... 10,000 beats, times 3 minutes, divided by 5 or so Mods... the odds of it happening by accident are... pretty freakin near impossible, I think (lol).
