Whats it called when you copy different scores from a midi sequence and past it in your track, add drums, and arrange it how you want? I didnt play any of the notes I just put it in different vsti. I mean is that just ripping peoples music? Have any producers done this before? I want to know cause I made a track like that and it came out pretty nice.

You didn't come up with the melody/score...you just copied it---> ripping off.

Why don't you come up with your own melodies? I'm just asking...

Some would say you 'sampled' the track. Or maybe more like had the sample re-played if you changed the instrument....

But yea, i'm not to sure if most will see it like that....

I do always come up with my own melodies, but I was just playing around in FLStudio and one thing led to another, and it ended up hot. "What you want me to do im sorry" lol but didnt Dj toomp do the same thing on "what you know about that"?

Its called "interpolation'. In cases where you interpolate a work by another compser you have to clear it with only the composer. If you are simply cutting (sampling) a piece of the record, then you'd have to contact the songwriter(composer) and the record company that own the right to the master recording.

However, most folks simply calll what you're doing sampling. Be careful while you're interpolating so you don't forget the original track that you "flipped".

God Bless Y'all.

Ok thanks, so if I would say sell this beat, it would be on the artist to do all that clearing stuff?

Yes, but be careful to make sure you give them that information in the contract.
