And then reassembling it

I am new to your board. However, I am not new to your tutorials. I really appreciate them all. Your website and tutorials have helped me immensley.

I am new to FL Studio and I am also NOT a drummer. But I am not afraid to tear a beat apart and try making it myself. This leads me to a question of a particular beat I found in FL Studio. It's called dl_taught.wav  All you FL Studio users can easily find this in your program.

I slowed this beat down to about 80 bpm and I wanted to see if I could pick out the sounds and reconstruct it along with mixing them to mirror the original.

I have spent all night long attempting to do so and would like any help either of your readers or yourself could muster. I'm having issue with the kinds of drums used in the beat. The bass sounds like it might be a Tom. (Has that middle eastern sound). And where a clap would normally go, I'm thinking some kind of snare is used. See what I mean? I'm confused.

I am doing this not only for a song I'm working on. But I would also like to take into consideration 'mixing' the percussion spacially. This would be a good beat to start with since it is pretty basic. But it sure sounds better than what I spent all night trying to do. Basic or not, it's kickin my butt! I get the idea deconstructing something you don't understand is a good way to build on your knowledge.

Thanks for reading
